Ever wanted to try Scuba Diving?

Whether you are looking to learn to dive or simply give diving a go, a Try Dive is a great way to take the plunge!

A Try Dive is a one hour session with one of our qualified instructors who will teach you some basic scuba diving skills before getting you into the swimming pool for your very first dive.

During your Try Dive you will:

  • Learn about some of the skills and signals we use as scuba divers
  • Understand how to use the scuba equipment once in the water
  • Breathe under water using the scuba equipment
  • Go on a dive with your instructor down to two metres
  • Have your photo taken with our underwater camera! (Optional)

What to expect?

Bingham Sub Aqua Club Try Dives all take place on a Tuesday night from 8:30pm. We ask participants to come 30 minutes before to complete some short forms and to get into their swimwear (we recommend also wearing a T-Shirt over your swim wear to avoid the scuba gear rubbing on your shoulders).

You will be introduced to your instructor who will show you the kit and give you a safety briefing. You will then be taken into the pool to learn how to Scuba Dive!

At the end of your dive, you will receive your Try Dive Certificate. If you had a photo taken with our underwater camera, we will send this to you via email. If you would like to bring anyone with you, they are welcome to watch from the poolside.

Who can do a Try Dive?

We want everyone to enjoy their Try Dive experience and so there are a couple of important things to note BEFORE booking a Try Dive for you or someone else:

You must be in good general health

  • Scuba diving is a safe activity. Anyone with a medical history of diabetes, blackouts (epilepsy etc), perforated eardrums, high blood pressure, heart disease, any lung or respiratory disorder or dependence on drugs may not be able to dive safely. If this is the case, specialist advice must be obtained before contemplating taking up this sport.
  • You need to be in good general health. For your safety, we cannot allow anyone who has a cold to take part in a Try Dive. We are happy to rearrange if you are unwell on the day.
  • All participants must fill in a try dive medical and liability disclaimer form and for those under 18, signed by a parent or legal guardian, before the session begins.

Other things to note:

  • You should be a competent swimmer and be reasonably confident in the water. We ask all participants to swim two lengths of the pool at the start of the Try Dive.
  • For Bingham Sub Aqua Club Try Dives, there is no lower age limit but the equipment must fit the participant. The smallest size we can accommodate is an adults XS.
  • All try dive participants under 16 years old will need to be accompanied by an adult, normally a parent or carer for the duration of the Try Dive. The parent,  guardian or carer can be on the Try Dive with the young person or there is a poolside seating area.

Booking a Try Dive

Try Dives are £20 for one person, £35 for two people or £15 per person for groups of three or more. We can take up to 6 people per pool session.

We have Try Dive slots available almost every Tuesday of the year. All Try Dives are booked through our website using the button below.
